Musica Notturna: Music From European Library & Adult Cinema In The 1970s

[Edit:] scroll down in the comments for multi-track.

Doing something a little different with this one...This blog was pretty dormant for awhile, and now that I'm more active working on remasters and the occasional new mix, I'd like to see if I can recapture more of the old listeners and some new ones, too.

So I'm bringing back an old trick, something I'll do for this one, but not all, and that is that I'm first sharing the single track mix. I'll share the full album with split tracks once I get 10 comments requesting it, with the caveat that each comment must be from an identifiable source, i.e. no Anonymous users. I like to put a name with a comment.

As for the mix itself, believe it or not I've been sitting on it for a couple years. Why didn't I share it until now? Dunno, I just didn't, but I do this occasionally. It's one of my favorites and is very much in the ePm vein, although totally consisting of Library tracks, whereas ePm is mostly score/soundtrack driven with a fair amount of Library sprinkled in.

Don't miss this one. Play it on a great set of speakers and please do play it late at night, lights down low and accompanied by a drink or a spliff or a girl.

  3. Thanks, highplainsdrifter! This one is a birthday treat for me. Excited to check it out. I'm an old time listener, but I lost all of my old files. Got nostalgic recently and looked at the site and was absolutely delighted to see the remasters appearing! Eros 8 (which I don't think I heard first time around) is particularly wonderful. Thanks for your great work.

  8. Leaving a second comment (I'm the anonymous "of course" poster above and also the one who said the East and West coast were celebrating one of your remastered uploads) as I missed the name request in your post above. So, OF COURSE I'd love a split track version, haha.

  9. +1 for the multitrack version! (I've commented anonymously in the past).

I love your mixes like no other. I even loaded up a few USB drives with all 40-something EpM volumes and the five Eros + Massacre volumes and plugged them into my car and home audio players. It's playing almost nonstop. All my house guests love the grooves too

  10. Quick question: What is the violin version of the theme from Malenka - La Nipote Del Vampiro (Fangs of the Living Dead) that's on Eros + Massacre Vol. 5 around 7:15? I can't find it anywhere and it sounds like it's a rip from vinyl.
Would you ever release Eros + Massacre Vols 3, 4, and 5 as multi-track albums?

    1. Ahh, a man who pays attention to the details, very nice! It took me a few minutes of sleuthing myself, but I did track that track to a Carlo Savina Library album for Music Scene. Oddly the track is named "Fabulous". It's a very pretty collection of songs, and I've shared that album below here for you in m4a format. Enjoy!

  11. Any chance you can revive the mix called "Library / Cinetrax 1: Dramatic Themes" from The Art of the Mix site? The link from a decade ago is dead, but the description sounds amazing.

I've enjoyed a lot of those mixes too, especially Music for the Modern Shopper, Jet Set Go, and Music for Boudoir (with a very obscure version of Moonlight Serenade I can't identify—hint hint). So good!

    1. You're welcome! I also had a bit of a snoop on your site. Very cool stuff, man! I look forward to reading a bit more about you music career on the site. I am in China nowadays and probably forevermore, so any idea where can I get a digital copy of We're Only In It For The $?

    2. That Zappa album is on SLSK in MP3 and FLAC for sure

    3. Ah, yes, but this album is by the band, Big Sniff.

    4. Funnily enough, that EP was named as such because I suggested it at the time, as a (I realize now wrongheaded) homage to Zappa. It's completely out of place and a real stretch as that EP is just sort of OK, nothing special, and has nothing at all to do with the kind of music Zappa wrote, and certainly not worthy of having a Zappa reference. He would have hated our record, haha. It was only saved, to a degree, by the artwork my friend Bob did for it, showing aliens on street corner offering to disintegrate and reintegrate for food.

    5. Ha! That's wild. So, Big Sniff was your band back in the day? What instruments do you play?
