HPD: A epic set, perfect for the Socially Distancing Work from Home Day. Add the Lure of the Cocktail Hour series and you've got everything needed to keep focus, lose focus and drift away and return back to productivity. Thank you for all of your hard work, it is enjoyed!
Along with this epic set, hoping you'll have a chance some day to re-up the dead Zippyshare links at the Art of the Mix. Too much great stuff to be un-enjoyed. Thanks
Thank you HPD. There are several from the earlier Zippyshare years. Starting with your earliest post: Bungalow Tiki Vol. 1: 1950s Exotica from Tiki Culture's Halcyon Days.
After kicking back through the Lure of the Cocktail series, it seemed natural to want to grab a seat at: Music for Beachcombers: Afternoon Cocktails at the Tiki Hut. And then toss out a blanket to visit: Music for Beachcombers 2: Isola Del Paradiso
Then, after enjoying Underwater 2; I was looking forward to diving into: Underwater: Music for Deep Sea Exploration.
I’ve not had time but hope to wade through more. One more thing; because isn’t nice to hear something good about ourselves? Your cover work is fantastic. I appreciate the subtleties: label names, price stickers, things like that. The Neon Library covers nailed it, Midnight Tempo fantastic and the booklet for TLOTC was just…Perfect. I must admit I find myself very much enjoying the covers that display the …attributes… of the fairer sex but each cover has been a great match to the mood and music therein.
It can be a thankless task but I very much appreciate all of the hard work and you’ve given many of us something to enjoy. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words and the attention to detail re the cover art. The cover art is integral to the mixes and I'm glad you noticed. I often start with an idea for a theme and begin to add tracks to an extended playlist; then I design the cover and build the mix from the imagery. Indeed I equate sound with image so closely that I cannot listen to music without some sort of mental image, so in this case I make my own.
I'll be enjoying a day out with the boy today and then I'll get on re-upping those mixes...so check each respective space today or tomorrow.
Hello HPD, been a while since I've reached out. My you have been a busy DJ. So much music at the Art of the Mix to walk through. Has Covid impacted your travels the way it has most? Seems you have to actually have to be on a flight crew to go anywhere. So, the Jazz Noir series: superb. Dakar Sound, Nigeria Ghana, Priests of Vodun, Electric Mandingo, Rumba Lingala and Cameyenne to Conakry...interesting. Lotsa beats and grooves. Thinkin' if I was enjoy some rum and cassava, might have been more my cup of...rum. Aside from Jazz Noir, the MPB series was closer to my bag. So, I come to you with a request that you are free to be too busy to fulfill. Because I came late to your blog, many of the Zippyshare links had long since died. Managed to abscond with several Eros + Melody downloads but so many holes in my collection of your stuff and I really like what I do have. Would you consider a re-up of the series or if I asked for specific files? To be honest, it's probably more than 30 files I don't have and that's a lot to ask, but if one doesn't, well you know. As noted, anything you do want to do or not do is totally cool, it's your thing after all. Glad to see the new collections coming. Still enjoying all the ones I have. Be well.
HPD: Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Habari Gani and let the feats of strength of Festivus begin. Thank you for your follow-up. In the time between my request and your response, I found almost the whole library on a Soundtrack website. 24 hours of downloading later and I'm totally enjoying them. The files are almost entirely the multiple tracks without the mix. I've enjoyed remixing them myself following your track order. (I enjoy that sort of thing) I was glad to find a few things I did not have. That said, here are the holes in my collection at this point: Vol. 25, Vol. 43, and Vol. 44. If you can hook me up with these then it would be superb. All I can say is WOW, the series has some great stuff in it; still working my way through all of it and the covers are...nice. Looking forward to your next series here or over at TAOTM.
This Neon Library stuff is the best thing the internet has ever given me, thank you much! It would be very nice to know where this stuff came from. Thanks a million, cheers!
all of your comps have been great over the years. so well put together. didn't realize you had posted these. is it possible to get a re-up? either way, thank you and hope life is good
